ROOTS & FAMILY

A native of Erickavu near Haripad in Alappuzha district, Kerala, Erickavu N. Sunil is presently based in Chenkottukonam, Thiruvananthapuram.

Deeply grounded in Kerala's cultural landscape, his personal life reflects the same commitment to tradition, scholarship, and artistic excellence that defines his professional journey in Carnatic music and rhythmology.

He is married to Indu, a senior Information Technology professional with an accomplished corporate career and a dedicated practitioner of Aksharaslokam, Kerala's classical literary recitation tradition. Her engagement with literature and performing arts complements the family's shared cultural ethos.

Their elder son, Bhagath Sunand, currently pursuing Engineering, is actively training in Indian classical music, with formal study in Violin, Carnatic Vocal music, and Mridangam. Their younger son, Bharath Sunand, a sixth-grade student, is learning Violin and Konnakkol, reflecting the continuity of rhythmic tradition across generations.

Rooted in artistic discipline, intellectual inquiry, and cultural responsibility, the family embodies a living tradition of Carnatic music, literature, and scholarly pursuit, reinforcing a legacy where heritage is not merely preserved, but actively practiced and transmitted.
