Championing heritage, inspiring communities, shaping global arts dialogue
Erickavu N. Sunil is not only a celebrated percussionist, author, and academic but also a committed cultural ambassador and arts advocate, dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and dissemination of India's classical and traditional art forms. His vision finds its fullest expression in the Indeevaram Cultural Trust, a non profit organization he founded and chairs in Thiruvananthapuram.
Sunil envisioned Indeevaram as a sanctuary for timeless art, an inclusive platform where prodigies, amateurs, differently abled children, and legendary maestros share the same stage. Established in June 2018 (Reg. No. 79/2018), the Trust is dedicated to classical music, dance, literature, traditional art forms, and holistic art education.
Indeevaram is designed as an inclusive and merit-based cultural space where:
Since its inception, Indeevaram curated eight thoughtfully designed cultural programmes as part of its pre-inaugural festival series, reinforcing its commitment to quality over quantity.
After a pause during the Covid pandemic, Indeevaram's Grand Inauguration & Cultural Festival was held on 30 November 2025 at EMS Hall, University of Kerala, Karyavattom Campus. The ceremonial lamp was lit by eminent personalities including Prof. Madhusoodanan Nair (Poet), Dr. Methil Devika (Mohiniyattom Practitioner & Academic), Dr. Sunil V.T (Former Dean, Fine Arts, University of Kerala), Dr. Bhavana Radhakrishnan (Playback Singer, Retd. Professor), Dr. P. Rajesh Kumar (Registrar, Kerala Kalamandalam), and Mr. Sreekumar V (Secretary, GTech, Technopark).
The event featured a special showcase by differently abled children, a Mohiniyattom lecture demonstration by Dr. Methil Devika, and a musical ensemble by students of Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram, reflecting Indeevaram's inclusive and educational ethos.
Beginning January 2026, Indeevaram Cultural Trust launched a monthly cultural series at the Indeevaram Amphitheatre in Chenkottukonam, Thiruvananthapuram. This ongoing initiative is designed to create a vibrant platform where emerging talents and distinguished artists from the world of Indian classical and traditional arts can share the stage and engage with discerning audiences.
The series reflects Indeevaram's commitment to nurturing artistic excellence, promoting cultural heritage, and fostering meaningful artistic collaborations within the performing arts community.
